We are looking for a Core Tech Lead Programmer to join us on an exciting multiplayer IP. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in developing the codebase from the ground up, helping the programming team to architect, plan and troubleshoot development, to deliver on the high-level vision for the game.

As Core Tech Lead Programmer working with the project’s Lead programmer and Technical Director, you are responsible for the output and development of the core tech programming team. You will create, maintain, and evangelise best practices for the code team. In this role, you will be a champion for quality across the project and collaborate with all disciplines in the delivery of an exciting new AAA franchise.

You will join an experienced group of talented developers who share a passion for creating AAA quality games. Your skills and perspective will complement a team built on transparency, trust, and integrity; a team who are not afraid to challenge ourselves in the pursuit of excellence.

Within this role you will:

  • Lead your team to achieve the highest possible quality product
  • Work with the Technical director, project leads and production to assist with planning and direction of the work of the core tech team
  • Help production prioritise and track the work of your team
  • Encourage best code design practices within the code team
  • Work with other disciplines to build content production tools and automation pipeline, establish tools and best practices to maintain quality and performance
  • Write high quality source code
  • Coordinate your team to deliver milestones

We need you to have:

  • Excellent code design skills
  • Have acted as lead on at least 1 shipped title
  • Experience planning and scheduling work for a code team
  • Expert in C/C++, minimum of 5 years' experience
  • 4 years' experience working in the game industry required
  • Experience in PC and/or console programming
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience working on at least one large scale game project
  • Experience with networking in games.

You will also need to:

  • Think critically, and apply analytical skills in resolving complex issues
  • Author technical designs and best practices
  • Mentor less experienced programmers

Nice to haves:

  • At least 2 years’ experience using Unreal Engine 4
  • Experience working on games as a service
  • Experience in a senior capacity working on a first-person shooter
  • Experience working with Linux
