🌸 Role Introduction 🌸

We are building a shiny, new, ambitious game and would love to find Mid-level and Senior Environment artists with proven skills and experience in creating inviting 3D stylized game environments.

If creating soothing, vibrant worlds like those in our first title, Wylde Flowers excites you, then we would love to work with you!

🌸 What you'll be doing 🌸

  • Taking design needs, concept art and art style guides into account and creating cohesive, creative plans that clearly define the direction for the environments and props you plan to build in order to to share with the team for collaboration and approval.

  • Reference gathering and loose conceptual grey-box modelling to express your plans and ideas to the team.

  • Creation of low-poly 3D models in Maya meeting strict pipeline and game engine requirements that never compromise on appeal.

  • Hand-painting stylized, tileable environment textures.

  • Creating efficient UV sets with a focus on ease of hand-texturing and texture baking.

  • Using Substance Painter for base lighting and texturing as well as Photoshop for detail texturing.

  • Manipulating PBR shaders for conveying material types and lighting.

🌸 Our dream Environment Artist 🌸

  • Has a solid grasp of PBR pipelines as well as stylized, hand-painted art pipelines in order to utilize the best tools for making beautiful art that performs well on every platform.

  • Is highly proficient with ZBrush, particularly for creating organics.

  • A good understanding of level design principles to guide the player and foster a desire for exploration.

  • Believes in collaboration and loves working with a team to create the best possible environments by adapting to new ideas and feedback.

  • Is able to work independently with people in significantly different time zones. Knowing when to reach out for help or advice but loves problem solving as well.

  • Has proven experience working in a stylized art-style that is still grounded in reality.

  • Believes in kindness and support as a first step to any communication and practices both when giving feedback.

🌸 This is a full time, fixed-contract and permanently-remote-working position 🌸

  • This position is 38 hours a week

    • Work around your family and personal commitments.

    • Work any hours of the day and week that make sense for you.

    • We generally communicate over Slack or email, with occasional voice/video chat when convenient.

  • You will need to have some reasonable time zone overlap with both Melbourne and the US at the same time. We have a strict policy to not hire in Europe or any time zone where only night work would be possible to achieve that.

  • We'll be trusting you to be self-motivated and able to manage your own time and workload; we won't be micromanaging your task list.

🌸 Salary 🌸

  • These are fixed-term 12-18 month contract positions

  • $95,000 AUD ($64,000 USD) or $120,000 AUD ($85,000 USD) depending on level.
