Responsibilities:
- Focuses on building a confident relationship with our Partners. They work with the External Director/Art Director in interpreting their vision and receiving feedback that they will then communicate to our internal team
- Present work and seek stamp of approval on shots with Production from the Animation Director and/or the Client
- Review incoming work from the Client with the Lead to predict challenges and any missing information that needs to come from the Client
- Involved in Client file send offs ensuring a smooth delivery from our team to theirs. Will have support from the Animation Leads with prepping and general workflow
- Supports the Animation Director in feedback, casting, and estimates. Identify and investigate bottlenecks or slow downs internally affecting the needs of Production
- Partners with the Production Department to work out schedules and bids to keep the project on track and to ensure deadlines are met and clearly communicated if they’re about to go over
- It’s good for the Supervisor to regularly meet up with Production and Leads to identify issues within the team and pipeline
- Apply expert knowledge of body mechanics and the principals of animation to process and refine motion capture data
- Editing and “clean up” motion capture data to create high-quality in game and/or VFX assets
- Able to adapt and improve action choices within the mocap and execute them effectively
- Troubleshooting technical issues related to motion capture
- Keeps track of story, staging, and continuity issues within the sequence/edit (they should know the edit like the back of their hand)
- Responsible in setting the quality bar by cleaning/animating one of the first shots or to research examples that's in the style the Client likes
Requirements:
- Strong working knowledge of animation packages and workflows
- Professional experience using mocap in either the video game or VFX industry
- Professional using Autodesk Maya. Knowing Motion Builder is a plus
- A working knowledge of motion capture hardware and software
- Strong Facial Animation, and motion capture editing skills
- Excellent knowledge of traditional animation techniques and principles of character movement
- Experience with quadrupedal motion capture is a plus
- Understanding of the motion capture process and its technical dependencies and limitations on and off stage
- Deep understanding of anatomy and human kinetics
- Deep understanding of fundamental animation principles
- A plus with experience using a games engine
- Rigging and scripting experience preferred
