Square Enix, the company behind some of the world’s most popular action and RPG brands including Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, and Outriders, is looking for a highly strategic, experienced, motivated marketing leader, who can deliver the full commercial potential of our portfolio of games across Europe, the Americas and Australia / New Zealand.

Reporting to the Publishing Strategy Team Lead, the Marketing Lead will be responsible for the creation of integrated marketing strategies that are innovative and engaging to drive commercial success across the portfolio of titles for the designated Creative Business Unit (CBU).

Working closely with cross functional leads in the Publishing team, the Marketing Lead must possess extensive management and interpersonal experience, have a deep knowledge and experience in the marketing discipline and be able to motivate at the highest level. Must be able to collaborate across a dynamic global business, wider cross-functional teams and have the ability to demonstrate exceptional business and fiscal acumen to senior leadership at Square Enix.

Requirements

Key Deliverables:

  • Works closely with other Publishing Team members comprised of cross functional leads for PR, Social, Sales, Community, Creative, Project management to build integrated Publishing Strategies for all assigned titles.

  • Responsible for the marketing inputs to the Publishing Strategy for each title associated with the assigned CBU. Identifies targeting and positioning proposition, knowledge gaps and research needs. Works with Regional and Shared Services teams to gather input and builds alignment around media strategies, partnership strategies and owned channel strategies.

  • Primary point of contact with CBUs, development studios and Square Enix Japan Marketing on strategic marketing related matters.

  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships with other Strategic Publishing Marketing Leads and Regional Marketing Leads to foster best in class working practices across the marketing functions.

  • Works closely with regional teams to communicate and deliver key project updates to milestones, features, strategies, and business objectives.

  • For each assigned title, identifies and communicates 18-month key marketing beats, campaign calendar from announce through to post-launch support. Works with Publishing Strategy Lead, Regional Sales Lead and Publishing Sales Planner to deliver a full SKU plan aligning with the CBU

  • Leads marketing initiatives in the West for global partnerships. Works with the Publishing Lead in the implementation of 1st party partnerships.

  • Works with Regional sales team (and Publishing Sales Planner) and Publishing lead to set achievable and market informed pre-order targets and builds campaigns to deliver results.

  • With the Publishing Team Lead, recommends initial allocation of approved P&L marketing funds between Strategic and Regional teams. Ensures that recommendation is aligned with Strategic Plan.

  • Works closely with the Regional Marketing Director to brief and present important topics to the Regional teams including project kick-offs and the reveal of the Publishing Strategy in line with Publishing schedules and Go To Market planning timelines.

  • Reviews Regional Marketing teams’ Go To Market plans to ensure that they are on brand, that they deliver against the Publishing Strategy, and that they are feasible.

  • Oversees all marketing campaign asset creation for assets intended for common use across the Western regions. Works with development teams to identify assets to be created for Western use and where those assets will be created. For externally created assets, works with Creative Lead and Creative team to brief agencies, evaluate work, and obtain necessary internal approvals.

  • Works closely with the Creative lead, SEW Creative and External agencies to demonstrate a strong creative vision for campaigns. Works with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the game title’s core values, campaign’s key messaging is communicated to deliver high quality materials on budget and on time.

  • Manages and leads marketing personnel assigned to the Publishing team. Ensure that personnel have clear goals and development plans. Provides timely regular feedback and recognition for work. Makes recommendations for assignments of team members among different titles or other teams.

Knowledge & Experience:

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s (BA) degree preferred in management, marketing or communications

  • High level experience in gaming marketing, technology or consumer products.

  • Possesses exceptional project management, problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Experience working across international business units.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Experience in working with development teams to build consensus and strategic alignment.

Desirable:

  • Japanese language skills and/or experience working with Japanese corporations is a bonus.
