At SELM, we are driven by our mission of putting people first while publishing high-quality, free-to-play mobile games. We’re based in London, UK – home of the classic beans on toast, Lara Croft’s favourite meal. Our aim is to make exciting mobile games with world renowned IPs that deliver premium gameplay experiences.

Currently, there are two main games in development, with many more projects in the pipeline. The first title we release will be Tomb Raider Reloaded in 2022, and our newly announced second game in production is set in the incredible universe of Avatar: The Last Airbender. We are looking for an experienced Director of Mobile Publishing to navigate us through the next part of our journey...

The Director of Mobile Publishing is responsible for the definition and the delivery in time, quality, budget, and revenue of the mobile publishing business.

Key elements in achieving this goal are having:

  • London Publishing team mobilized and enabled by the having the appropriate means and objectives.
  • External developers feeling responsible and empowered for their game, and Licensors and partners handled with care.

Requirements

Key Deliverables:

  • Ensure best-in-class quality is met across all aspects of the game, including creative, product, gameplay, and marketing
  • Communicate and promote the vision and requirements for each project, including functional specifications and cross-functional needs to both internal and external teams
  • Recruit and mentor, all members of the team, instil a culture of leadership and cultivate a sense of externalized pride that results in the Mobile Publishing Team having a great reputation across the company and industry.
  • Set and continuously evaluate project goals throughout game lifecycle
  • Own and manage a multi-million-dollar budget covering all external development, prototyping and internal costs
  • Embody and demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset for mobile, challenging assumptions and proactively driving additional business opportunities
  • Embody and demonstrate an intrapreneurial mindset within Square Enix to continually inform, challenge and influence processes and best practices where relevant across the company
  • Build the long-term strategy to ensure the financial and critical success of the London Mobile Publishing division, resulting in games that deliver 30% net contribution from end of year 2 live ops onwards
  • Develop all processes required to identify market opportunities, select highly skilled partners, and deliver best in class mobile games that can sustain profitability for multiple years in live ops
  • Build and maintain key relationships across the mobile division and wider business to the benefit of both the Mobile Publishing Team and Square Enix as a whole, including internal IP stakeholders to allow for leveraging of key Square Enix IP on the mobile platform
  • Establish and maintain successful relationships across the games industry, including developers and 1st party platforms
  • Establish and drive high value and profitable collaborations with external IP owners such as film studios, TV production companies and streaming platforms

Knowledge & Experience:

Essential:

  • Strong leadership and end to end experience working on multiple acclaimed titles
  • Mobile Games industry experience and a proven track record of producing commercially successful published titles
  • Understanding of a variety of digital business models, including Free to Play monetisation methods
  • Strong project management and leadership experience
  • Demonstrable ability to meet kpi’s on assigned titles
  • Proven exceptional people manager

Desirable:

  • Familiar with Square Enix games

  • Demonstrates passion, commitment, and a high level of energy, in addition to a strong sense of ownership and urgency
  • Exceptional attention to detail – ability to track and monitor progress of every aspect of development of a title
  • Results oriented, self-motivated, and extremely well organised; proven track record of delivering projects on time and on budget
  • Strategic as well as delivery focussed. Must have the ability to plan, act and respond quickly as well as be able to see and consider bigger picture
  • Relishes working in a fast paced, live, constantly changing and evolving environment
  • Creative and customer focussed individual

  • Strategic planning experience
