Position at Sports Interactive

Sports Interactive Studio Scheme Apprenticeship (3 Placements) 2 year Fixed Term Contract

This is a unique games industry “apprenticeship scheme” that has been created for locally based job-seekers aged 18-21 looking for an opportunity to join the games industry after 6 th Form/College. This apprenticeship is expected to start around 12 th October 2020, subject to availability of successful candidates.

The successful candidates will work office-based roles at Sports Interactive at Here East offices but will be working initially from home. This means a lot of communication though Microsoft Teams, E-mail and phone calls. You will be supplied all the equipment you need.

Please note: this is not a skills/qualification based apprenticeship but “on the job” training/coaching/mentoring is included.

Position Overview

The Departments Are

The studio apprenticeship scheme role will be full time 37.5 hours per week, with 25 days holiday per year (in addition to Bank Holidays). The 2 year apprenticeship will consist of 3 different department placements of 8 months.

  • Communications (including Social Media, PR and Brand Management)
  • Quality Assurance
  • Customer Management or Business Analytics
  • Each department will allocate responsibilities and tasks designed to teach you how the industry works and build your confidence and experience to go further. You will need good attention to detail consistently, be able to take direction from others, communicate well on your progress and ask lots of questions. Each department will carefully set out expectations per week and you will create weekly progress updates and task lists.

Depending on your progress you will be given increasing responsibility and task difficulty and where relevant additional training via online or external partners.

Our work is highly confidential – you will agree to our IT security and privacy requirements and absolute discretion is required. You will be trusted to protect the reputation of the studio and its teams.

This is an opportunity where you will be given opportunity to explore and create your own contributions to the team, find out how things get done to make the games and see how we build a relationship with millions of our passionate global players.

While you are with us, you are expected to join company meetings, our internal Learning & Development presentations (monthly), Foottalks (from external professionals in football) and partake in a wide range of social and voluntary events.

This is a new scheme so we will be evolving with your feedback and suggestions. We will have dedicated team members for mentoring and checking that you are progressing well. Our ambition is for you to further your career in the games industry with us or other studios on completion of the 2-year programme.

Essential

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • English & Maths GCSE’s A*-C (or equivalent qualifications)
  • Good communication skills – confidence in speaking, writing and presenting with others
  • Good attention to detail and a sense of pride in a job done well
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to consistently work to key deadlines
  • A firm understanding of the importance of confidentiality
  • Experience of taking responsibility
  • Experience of being a good team player
  • Ability to prioritise workload and find solutions to improve efficiencies
  • Experience with full Microsoft Office software package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Desirable
    • Familiarity with Football Manager is helpful but not a requirement if you have other excellent experience/attributes
    • Passion for computer games highly advantageous
  • IF you have an interest in IT, coding or maths please highlight this on your application
