Description
Own the level design based on the overall game vision
Design and build level layouts, incorporating playtest feedback / iteration
Work with both terrain and structures to create compelling game environments
Incorporate pathing, world hinting to help guide players through the game world
Incorporate occlusion into level design, for gameplay and performance requirements
Work with closely other disciplines such as level art to ensure that the playability of the level and the visual elements support each other
Place game elements such as AI, triggers, events to support game objectives
Prototype gameplay, scenarios, events using both node graphs and/or scripting
Script events, AI, and tune level gameplay and events to shipping quality
Work with other designers to develop game beats - maintain overall feel / pacing
Playtest frequently, adjust difficulty, accessibility based of feedback
Work closely with QA to find and resolve bugs and performance issues in the level
Requirements
Experience in Level Design; mastery of 3D level design tools
Solid knowledge of standard game editors, such as Unreal 5 or Unity
Basic knowledge of node graph systems ( UE Blueprints ) and/or basic scripting
Basic knowledge of 3D tools, such as Maya, 3DS Max, Blender, Sketchup
Basic knowledge of 2D tools, such as Photoshop
Basic knowledge of office suite ( Microsoft 365/Office, Google Workspace )
Basic knowledge of standard production tools, such as Confluence, JIRA, P4
Strong general creative skills
Strong attention to quality and detail, both creatively and technically
Excellent organization and communication skills
Excellent time management
Ability to work as part of a team and take direction
Demonstrated ability to work self-directed when necessary
Excellent knowledge of video game industry (multiple game genres )
Ability to put oneself in player’s shoes
