Build amazing experiences in Halo Infinite, connect players across platforms in Minecraft, unleash your creativity on original IP or think strategy with Magic: The Gathering Arena. SkyBox Labs is a game development studio that works on some of the world’s most iconic games. Our current projects include working as a co-developer on Halo Infinite, projects in the Minecraft Universe, supporting the development of Magic: The Gathering Arena, and original title, Stela. As one of Vancouver’s fastest-growing game studios, since our inception in 2011, SkyBox Labs has evolved from a group of 8 people developing independent projects to a team of over 200 engineers, artists, designers, producers, and more.

We're looking for an experienced and ambitious Software Engineer to join our team working on the Forge mode for Halo Infinite! This is a great opportunity for an experienced C++ generalist who enjoys tackling dynamic, complex and rewarding technical challenges. Help the Forge team develop a world-class experience that will empower the Halo community to build great maps and gameplay for players to enjoy!

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership over software engineering challenges in a variety of areas including (but not limited to) graphics investigations, simulation, profiling, and general systems building
  • Be an expert and owner for key areas of technology, but still know when to ask for help
  • Provide updates on technology risks and obstacles to engineering leads and project managers
  • Push the boundaries of what you know by learning new technologies and systems to meet our technical and business needs

Qualifications

  • 3-10+ years of professional software engineering experience working in C++
  • Strong understanding of algorithms, performance, optimization and debugging
  • Self-driven with a passion for solving hard problems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in game development or a related industry
  • Experience working with physics, 3D math, graphics and/or multithreading
  • Experience working with user-facing tools
  • A passion for games!
