SkyBox Labs is a game development studio that works on some of the world’s most iconic games. Our projects include working as a co-developer on Halo Infinite, projects in the Minecraft Universe, supporting the development of Magic: The Gathering Arena, and original title, Stela. As one of Vancouver’s fastest-growing game studios, since our inception in 2011, SkyBox Labs has evolved from a group of 8 people developing independent projects to a team of over 200 engineers, artists, designers, producers, and more.

SkyBox Labs is looking for Associate Software Engineers to join our team. For 6-months, you will gain practical experience while working on an original unity-based game. After that time, our aim is to find a permanent role for you on one of our AAA projects.

While working on SkyBox original IP, you and a group of talented associate engineers will take our comprehensive C++ training program through SkyBox University.

This opportunity was created to advance passionate and motivated software engineers to eventually work on AAA games. If you love games and are compelled to hone your skills, apply today!

Responsibilities

  • Build software in C# using the Unity Engine
  • Attend and complete our C++ course through SkyBox University
  • Collaborate with designers, production and software engineers to develop and maintain features
  • Execute on software development tasks independently, while still knowing when to ask for help
  • Push the boundaries of what you know by learning new technologies and systems to meet our technical and business needs

Qualifications

  • Personal or professional game development experience (we love to see your personal projects!)
  • Fluency in C#, Unity, and C++
  • Strong math skills for 3D game development
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • A commitment to self-direction, collaboration, and constant improvement
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment

Nice-to-haves

  • A passion for games!
  • Unreal Engine experience

Work During COVID-19

In order to keep our employees, candidates and community safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, the majority of our teams are working from home within Canada, with plans to a return in a hybrid capacity in 2022. All interviewing, onboarding, and most work will take place remotely for the foreseeable future.
