Who We’re Looking For

Skillz is looking for an experienced strategic and data-driven leader to build and grow a revenue strategy and insights team that will define and plan for company growth. This person will have an opportunity to develop this function from the ground up with a wide ranging remit and opportunity to make a big impact driving business strategy across critical revenue functions.

Reporting to the Global Head of Business Development and a critical member of the business development team, you will own all aspects of our partner strategy, planning, and prioritization, as well as activation insights and action plans. Additionally, as we finalize an IPO and look at company future growth, you will own all aspects of long term growth planning and strategic development inclusive of new business model creation, international expansion, and new vertical exploration.

You will partner cross-functionally, working closely with key organization leaders and stakeholders including your Business Development and Revenue org counterparts, FP&A, Marketing, and Product, and you will be a key partner to executive management.

What You Will Do

  • Define and manage a structured approach for strategic analysis and partner activation
  • Define team needed across key areas of strategy and develop a hiring plan to achieve your goals
  • Develop Revenue organization dashboards and own the creation of a revenue reporting template, process, and implementation plan - packaging strategic and analytical insights into automated dashboards and clear, concise, and executive ready communications, inclusive of organization P&L and business impact
  • Partner with FP&A to define and track, and then own reporting on KPIs for revenue growth - develop a framework and structure to investigate revenue issues and work cross-functionally to resolve those issues
  • Develop a clear strategy and implementation plan to identify new opportunities to drive incremental revenue, constantly evaluate areas of revenue shortfall and rapidly design solutions to improve the gap, and analyze the competitive landscape for ways to optimize the player experience.
  • Partner with key leaders and teams, as well as directly with FP&A, to drive a category management lens to partner activations - track and manage performance and deliver insights and action plans to internal and external stakeholders to ensure our partnerships are driving their greatest value. Ensure we are constantly learning and optimizing across teams and extrapolating learnings to other initiatives. Ensure recommendations are implemented and as necessary, step in to support implementation
  • Own the strategy, forecasting, requirements development, and landscape analysis to support business expansion, revenue model innovation and vertical exploration - this should include competitive intelligence, industry analysis, and market dynamics and trends
  • Identify and evaluate new business models and opportunities inclusive of media activation marketing solutions - develop a clear strategy, approach, and pilot / scale plan in partnership with BD and Enablement leaders
  • Develop an international expansion strategy, inclusive of market prioritization and rollout / go to market planning. Given the extent of our goals, this may include evaluating potential partnerships, alliances, and acquisitions to advance our strategic agenda

Your Skillz

  • BS / BA degree, MBA preferred
  • 5-10 years of experience with a mix of strategy and operating roles
  • Experience in a leading management consulting firm required, with work within technology, entertainment, and/or media companies strongly preferred
  • Superior analytical capabilities with a unique ability to extract insights from data and connect dots
  • Best in class communication across all mediums and across different org levels and stakeholders
  • Ability to think strategically about entire industries and markets to identify new sources of value and build the organizational momentum needed to seize breakout growth trajectories
