About The Team:

Mobile engineering is at the heart of what we do at Skillz. As an engineering leader responsible for our SkillzApp product you will drive community growth, discovery and engagement for our growing e-sports platform of developers and eAthelets.

The SkillzApp team is a multidisciplinary team, focusing on building engaging experiences for both existing Skillz champions, and new players just beginning their Skillz journey. We own both Skillz app, and the Skillz.com mobile web app, a pair of new and growing React.js / React Native applications, both of which are set to drive innovation in the Skillz ecosystem for many years to come.

What We’re Looking For:

You are a proven technologist with a background and passion for engineering and have leveraged your experience to mentor and guide a team of engineers. In this role you will lead engineering delivery as you partner closely with our Mobile SDK, QA and Product organizations.

Your work will have an impact on millions of players and developers around the globe. You are a customer focused leader who values collaboration and team empowerment. You understand the value of progress over perfection balancing strategic direction and tactical execution.

What You Will Do:

Recruit, hire and motivate a world class team of engineers.
Partner with Product to set the roadmap and drive the delivery of mobile experiences.
Lead and Mentor a team of talented mobile and full stack developers.
Partner with product owners and program managers to help plan releases and schedule development. Provide feedback and feasibility insights for proposed development features.
Define and deliver against department OKRs and KPI
Embrace and embody Skillz core values in your work and interactions with peers, stakeholders and direct reports.
Maintain and promote an inclusive, and high-performance culture, provide support for your teams’ career growth and personal development.

Your Skillz:

Bachelor's degree in engineering field or experience equivalent
6+ years of professional experience in software delivery
2+ years management experience leading a team of individual contributors
Proven track record of being results oriented with demonstrated ability to achieve aggressive goals.
Experience with agile software development methodologies
Experience delivering and managing multiple projects through their entire lifecycle
Working knowledge in one or more of the following: React, Ruby, Python, Java, nodejs
Must have knowledge and/or experience with open source technologies and impact of build/buy decisions.
Working knowledge in one or more of the following: ReactNative, Typescript, React, Objective-C, Java
Thrive in a highly collaborative and fast paced environment
Proven track record of being results oriented with demonstrated ability to achieve aggressive goals.
