Forge alternate worlds that deepen players' lives! We're a game development studio based in Los Angeles, dedicated to the idea that online games can deliver deeper, more meaningful experiences.

As a Senior Data Scientist (Analytics), you’ll report to our Head of Revenue and Insights. You'll be helping our studio better understand our players and their behaviors across a very broad gaming experience. Understanding user behavior is critical to Palia’s success, and Singularity 6 is invested in being at the forefront of data in the gaming space. Your work will help shape the direction of high value projects across the entire game and studio.

Expectations and Responsibilities

  • Collect insights around gameplay, monetization, or social features across Palia
  • Work with raw feedback from players to understand their primary concerns and present them in a digestible framework to stakeholders
  • Build forecasting tools and generalized models that impact decision making
  • Determine adequate metrics and KPIs to measure product and feature performance
  • Communicate product recommendations and general strategy to business leaders
  • Apply best practices in analytics to build live reports that are robust and maintainable
  • Contribute to the overall data efforts at Singularity 6, setting the bar for analytics standards and challenging technical norms

Requirements

  • Expert knowledge of SQL and proficiency in at least one core programming language (e.g., Python, R, Matlab, Julia, etc)
  • Firm understanding of general concepts within statistics and probability (e.g. hypothesis testing, sampling, estimation, linear models)
  • Ability to build creative analyses and visualizations from scratch using common tools (e.g. Tableau, Looker, etc.)
  • Experience working with and advising product leaders directly leveraging data to empower and direct decision making

Preferred

  • Knowledge of cloud computing and cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Experience with data warehouses (e.g., BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift), and orchestration (e.g., Airflow, Luigi)
  • Experience working with common data platforms (e.g., Databricks, AI Platform, SageMaker)
  • Interest in machine learning techniques
  • Familiarity with Graph Databases (e.g., Neo4j, ArangoDB)

  • On-site in Los Angeles, CA (once back in office) unless noted above
