Job Description


We’re looking for a 3D Technical Animator to join Silent Games, a Double A game development studio based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne with a focus on RPG games that give players a sense of autonomy, mastery and purpose. As a 3D Technical Animator you will work closely with animation and character art on a day to day basis. As a result, you should be able to communicate and work effectively in a team, always being ready to problem solve and offer insight into new features and processes. You should have a demonstrable knowledge of being able to work with rigging and animation systems inside UE4. This role will be key in developing our internal pipeline and setting our standards.


  • Rig and skin a variety of characters, assets and environments from organic to mechanical
  • Create bespoke animation tools and rig systems from the ground up for use in Unreal Engine 4
  • Establish and maintain 3D animation pipelines both inside and outside of UE4


  • Experience with Unreal Engine 4
  • Excellent understanding of rigging and skinning for all types of assets
  • Thorough understanding of character anatomy and movement
  • Ability to work effectively with other disciplines such as character art, environment art and programming
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills


  • Experience creating combat animations for RPG’s
  • Desire to work on RPG games with asynchronous multiplayer
  • Experience in working with motion capture data and motion capture pipeline
  • Experience rigging player characters and a variety of enemy types
