Job Overview:
The Art Director is responsible for the art department and all its output. They supervise a team of artists and animators, overseeing all artistic aspects of the production from start to finish. They are heavily involved at all levels of the production, especially with the Creative Director and Technical Lead, and are expected to champion the artistic vision and enforce quality standards.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Define visual style and artistic standards
- Exhibit a high level of artistic talent and aesthetic understanding
- Ensure art department’s output is consistent with outlined vision and project’s pipeline
- Practice effective team management
- Provide clear and constructive feedback to artists and other team members
- Collaborate with all departments to make sure project’s needs are met
- Manage several unique projects at once
- Devise creative solutions to problems and troubleshoot changing needs
Qualifications:
- 6+ years in video games industry, including 3 as a art team lead
- Ability to discuss and dissect creative concepts at deep level
- Ability to manage teams, and cultivate team members’ professional and creative growth
- Strong communication (English and French)
- Proficiency in current 2D and 3D applications (3Ds Max, Maya, Zbrush, Photoshop, etc.)
