Shikigami
๐ŸŒŽ Remote (Anywhere)

About Shikigami: We strive to become a beacon of positive change, innovation and stability within the Esports community by providing an environment for players to build on their competitive skills, address their mental and physical well-being, and goal planning and achievement. The organization aims for diversity and inclusion and wants to practice open mindedness by bringing in new points of view and making sure that we cultivate a safe space for all of our members

Who we are: We're a wild mix of gamers, activists, academics, artists, writers, musicians, programmersโ€ฆ who are trying to make our own name in the esports community.

About the position: We are an early-stage startup esports org currently looking for 2 individuals to join our core volunteer team to assist our programs and operations. This is a 15- 25 hour/week volunteer position, with a hope to turn into a paid position when we reach our goals. Our team is mostly volunteer. Responsibilities may include:

  • Support planning and coordination of programs and their activities
  • Ensure implementation of policies and practices
  • Maintain budget and track expenditures/transactions
  • Manage communications through media relations, social media etc.
  • Help build positive relations within the team and external parties
  • Schedule and organize meetings/events and maintain agenda
  • Ensure technology is used correctly for all operations
  • Prepare paperwork and order materials
  • Keep updated records and create reports or proposals
  • Engage our community directly by interacting with players/staff, sharing resources, and playing games!

As this is currently a volunteer position, hours are extremely flexible to work around current positions and obligations. We also offer career advice, professional development, and support services to all our volunteers.

Who are you:

We look for people who believe in our mission to democratize games - and that no matter your place within gaming, we all contribute and have the power (and responsibility) to do right by games, the people that make them, and the people that play them. What matters most is a drive to change the industry for the better and help others reach their dreams.

  • Any experience as a program coordinator or relevant position (student club leader? have a side hustle? ran an esports team?)
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and cultures
  • Comfortable working within a majority student/recent grad volunteer force that is distributed
  • Strong written/oral skills

Working in a startup can be really fun, and you get to contribute significantly to projects - but they have less structure than a traditional company. If that sounds like the sort of space you're looking for or are interested in experiencing, great!
