Position at Hardlight
Role Overview - UX Designer
You'll be responsible for ensuring product and feature designs in the studio are realised with a UX that is clearly understood and frictionless for players to engage with. You will work from initial design concepts, through the development cycle, collaborating with the design, UI and engineering teams to achieve best-in-class interaction flows and products.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside the game design team with a focus on delivering best in class UX implementations for features across titles in the studio
- Create and clearly communicate wireframes, storyboards, player paths through the game and interactive prototypes for the features with the project teams
- Work closely with the UI team to help create UI visual benchmarks as well as animation prototypes
- Act as the player-advocate during the development process, subjecting early-stage designs to usability testing and expert review in order to iteratively improve solutions
- Provide continuous, relevant feedback and improvements to the game UX to incorporate new design philosophies and industry best practice across all titles
- Be the go-to person to ensure interface consistency throughout titles
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Essential
- Excellent communicator and collaborator with a strong understanding of web, mobile or PC/Console games and a good understanding of the digital landscape
- A clear understanding of how to best engage players
- An awareness of how to drive player focus towards monetization features
- The ability to solve problems creatively and effectively
- Adept with Adobe Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator and Axure / XD
- Up to date with the latest UX/UI trends, techniques and technologies, with the ability to summarize and showcase improvements to industry best practice
- Strong interest in the mobile game industry including mid-core and free to play and a passion for AAA games of all genres
- A portfolio demonstrating all aspects of your skill is REQUIRED
Desirable
- Strong understanding of mobile gaming genres including mid-core and free to play
- Previous app development experience from pre-production through to product launch and live operation
- Skilled in VFX and animation
- Experience of using Unity UI or NGUI
