Position Overview

SEGA Sofia’s Development Services team is looking for a bright and motivated individual to join our team as a Compliance QA Tester. This position is an excellent opportunity for people who want to work in a fast paced, technology-driven and fun environment!

The position provides special support for 1st Party Compliance (Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo and Google) for console releases and other functional and non-functional testing for the QA Team within Development Services. The primary focus for a person in this position will be pioneering the test effort on Google Stadia for projects like Football Manager and others. Compliance Testers will go beyond test scripts and use their extensive testing experience to identify and report compliance issues within the games. These reports are essential for the quality and timely submissions of SEGA Europe!

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain familiarity with the most up-to-date 1st Party Guideline documentation and ensure that the application of respective guidelines to software in test is of the highest standard.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the Technical requirements and apply them effectively on a given title.
  • Enter professional, clear, accurate, and complete bug descriptions using the correct naming conventions.
  • Follow test scripts in a thorough and consistent manner ensuring that known 1st Party and SEGA custom test cases are completed exhaustively.
  • Follow test steps accurately as part of bug sweeps to ensure bugs have not been reopened at critical stages of the project, escalating reproduced issues as required.
  • Use keen observational skills and testing experience to go beyond test scripts and increase effectiveness of testing.
  • Concisely and effectively communicate important project issues and test results to all key stakeholders within SEGA as well as 1st Party groups and external parties where necessary.
  • Effectively and efficiently identify the severity and risk of project issues in a timely manner.
  • Apply new Compliance processes and procedures to test according to updated 1st Party requirements.
  • Perform game manual checks and English text file reviews for Compliance issues such as terminology and assist with any applicable design documentation reviews, escalating issues where needed via appropriate channels.
  • Assist Localisation QA with Terminology checks.
  • Identify the need for test case adjustment in order to increase coverage and apply the adjustments accordingly to increase the effectiveness of testing.
  • Carry out duties in a professional manner, act diligently to monitor security of equipment and media at all times, and follow team direction and instructions accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Assist with submission material preparation and checking/editing release packaging as required.
  • Assist Mastering and Equipment with firmware updates where required and the monitoring of equipment condition, escalating concerns where necessary.
  • Have a thorough technical understanding of respective platforms and test tools in order to provide technical and testing support for the platform both within Compliance and other disciplines within Dev Services.
  • Actively work with colleagues as appropriate, be supportive and helpful, and actively promote a strong team environment.
  • Think proactively, anticipating problems, and taking affirmative steps to deal positively with them.
  • Test various SEGA products when appropriate.

Knowledge, Skills And Experience

  • Knowledge of the video gaming industry and wide knowledge of video games;
