  • Draft and review a variety of complex agreements for websites, mobile apps, VR/AR experiences, and other digital products and services. This includes development and work-for-hire agreements, technology acquisition agreements, distribution agreements and technology licenses
  • Counsel team on digital product/service development and a broad range of compliance and international regulatory issues, including data collection, analytics and other data privacy & security matters; work collaboratively with the company’s Digital Technology & Privacy team
  • Perform privacy impact assessments and develop and implement data privacy documentation (notices, consents, terms of service, etc.), resources, tools, and standard methodologies across business units
  • Work with outside counsel to draft and update policies and notices, craft and implement program forms and templates, establish standard methodologies, evaluate program performance
  • Provide general legal advice to creative executives; analyze contracts in response to executive’s questions; manage confidentiality (NDAs) for the senior leadership
  • The ideal candidate must be able to function independently and to handle a high volume of deals, matters and agreements to support Secret Location’s rapidly growing businesses.

Key Competencies:

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in a law firm and/or in-house law department, preferably in the software/technology/digital entertainment industry.
  • Qualified lawyer with a J.D. or LL.B. degree from a top tier Canadian or American university
  • Proven record of working effectively in cross-functional teams with colleagues from different disciplines and interacting well with members of senior management
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate legal risks to a non-legal audience.
  • Outstanding organizational skills with a consistent track record of prioritizing a diverse workload and completing projects within deadlines.
  • Ability to see the big picture and also get into the details when needed
  • A great deal of initiative and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Highly responsible, self-motivated, and able to thrive in an energetic, fast pace, high growth, entrepreneurial environment. Enthusiasm for seeking out and learning about new technologies and implementing knowledge-sharing practices.
