Scopely is looking for a Researcher to join our Research & Insights team. You will be responsible for the development, execution, analysis, and creative presentation of UX and consumer research for a leading mobile game. This role incorporates a blend of User Experience and Consumer Insights research skills.

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in mixed methodology research (e.g., surveys, usability playtests, IDIs, focus groups, etc.), strong analytical skills, understands the business impact of research, experience working with different stakeholders, and a strong interest in learning and applying research to help Scopely make great games. The ideal candidate should feel comfortable designing research, writing questionnaires and discussion guides, analyzing data, writing actionable summaries/recommendations that tell the players’ stories, and communicating results to cross-functional teams.

What will you do?

  • Oversee research on a leading mobile game to drive a greater understanding of our players and their experiences
  • Design, implement and lead high-impact quantitative and qualitative research to support a number of cross-functional teams, including game design, UX design, product management, production, and marketing
  • Represent the voice of the player throughout the marketing and development cycle for mobile games in terms that are relevant to the business.
  • Manage end-to-end quantitative and qualitative research studies (e.g., customer satisfaction surveys, feature development and prioritization, positioning research, etc.).
  • Manage usability research, including screener design, recruiting, script development, moderating, analysis, and presenting findings to stakeholders.
  • Guide game development teams’ efforts based on player feedback
  • Partner with designers to generate solutions to identified issues
  • Collaborate with fellow researchers about new research techniques and methodologies

What do you need?

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA/Masters/Ph.D. preferred
  • 4+ years of industry experience conducting research in mobile gaming space or a related field
  • Familiarity with and strong interest in mobile games
  • Eagerness to learn and build research skillsets
  • Experience designing and executing a variety of qualitative and quantitative methodologies
  • Experience designing and conducting usability research/playtests
  • Experience working with and managing projects with research vendors
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and project management skills
  • Ability to build relationships that allow you to influence cross-functional teams
  • Attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and a drive to answer complex questions
  • Familiarity with online survey software tools (e.g. Survey Gizmo, Decipher, Qualtrics) and/or remote user testing platforms (e.g. Playtest Cloud, UserZoom, Usertesting.com) a plus
  • Experience with analytics software tools like SPSS and SQL a plus.
