Boundless is looking for a motivated technical designer to join the Marvel Strike Force team! The ideal candidate has experience with rpg or strategy game systems and content, and understands how game balance, controls, and aesthetics interact to create a compelling combat experience. Additionally, the candidate will be an avid player of RPG’s, strategy, and action games across multiple platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Work with combat design team to design, implement, and tune characters.
  • Debug issues and work closely with engineers and other technical designers.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of new features, systems, and tools.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of game modes, economic systems, and upcoming features.
  • Demonstrate understanding and mastery of a wide variety of player motivations based on player type and game factors.

Integral Skills and Experiences

  • Strong analytical and formal thinking, able to break down problems and identify the relations between key variables.
  • 1+ years working with any scripting or programming language (such as C++, C#, Java, Python, or proprietary scripting tools).
  • Experience shipping AAA console, PC, or mobile titles in a design role (or relevant experience in another capacity, such as QA or engineering).
  • Experience with game engines and tools, such as Unity or Unreal.
  • Ability to direct, collaborate, and speak critically on game systems, story, art, and content development.
  • Fundamental aesthetic, pacing, and balance comprehension.
  • A deep passion for strategy, action, and RPG games.
  • Experience using spreadsheet tools such as Excel and Google Docs.
  • Experience with C#, object-oriented programming, and/or javascript.

Would Love to See

  • Experience using C# to write custom tools in the Unity game engine.
  • Experience working with databases, Perforce source control, scripting, and .json
  • Shipped or supported live ops for 1+ games targeted for mobile platforms or built on the Unity engine.
  • Experience playing Marvel Strike Force.
  • A passion for Marvel comics and movies.
  • A deep understanding of social, mobile, and free-to-play game systems and economies.
