What you will do:

  • This is a role to join Scopely’s Principal Engineering Group, which works on select projects across the breadth of Scopely’s game and technology teams, to ensure the best outcomes for each game and for the broader company.
  • Common areas of focus include cost mitigation, launch readiness, technical performance, and architectural advising. The group aims to have flexible staff with relevant expertise to jump-start teams, avert crises, and invest in having stronger games, stronger businesses and stronger teams.

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong hands-on experience with major systems in game development or elsewhere
  • Mastery of several technologies
  • Openness to new technologies
  • Well-developed communication skills, ability to quickly develop rapport with new teams
  • Strong understanding of cloud environments
  • Clear grasp of pragmatic approaches to scaling organizations and technologies
  • Familiarity with industry best practices in problem domain (e.g., SRE, FinOps, performance optimization, load testing)
  • Substantial strength in one or more of Scopely’s widely deployed technologies:
  • .NET, Python, Java, Node.js
  • Unity, Android, iOS, React
  • AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, ECS
  • Ability to work with substantial autonomy, setting and measuring progress against meaningful goals
