The Corporate Development team is seeking a Manager, M&A Operations with HR expertise (known as the People function at Scopely). Scopely partners with game development studios and other businesses worldwide to develop, launch and run world-class game experiences. The Manager, M&A Operations reports to the VP, M&A Integration. This role will work as part of a cross-functional team to plan and execute People due diligence, and support Scopely and acquired teams to integrate with each other. This person will work with stakeholders within Scopely and at the newly acquired business, collaborating especially closely with Corporate Development and the People Team on the People aspects of the transition. It’s an exciting opportunity to join a growing department within a successful, growing organization, and play an integral role in expanding our global M&A Operations practice.

The role requires the ability to move quickly as opportunities arise, focusing on the key go/no go decision drivers for each opportunity while remaining detail-oriented. To be successful you will need to leverage a good HR generalist background, effectively establish and track various M&A People workstreams, and build relationships across Scopely and our partner businesses.

What you will do:

  • Accountable for HR due diligence: establish data requests, review data room materials, compile summary information, flag key findings and identify where further information or research is required.
  • Participate in information sharing meetings between Scopely and potential partner studios.
  • Provide diligence analyses that include, for example, analysis of roles, titles, compensation, diversity, regional HR considerations, studio culture and policies.
  • Partner with Scopely’s People team to establish diligence findings, red flags and follow-up requests.
  • Collaborate with M&A Operations leadership and the People team to develop the People integration plan and deliverables, including identifying the People team resources who will complete the work.
  • Track progress and deliverables of People workstreams from diligence kick-off through integration conclusion. Workstreams could include onboarding, payroll and benefits transition, reorganization activities, DEI&B (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging) initiatives, etc.
  • Effectively communicate status and risks.
  • Understand and represent the business objectives of the partnership to ensure focus on key People outcomes.
  • Partner with M&A Operations leadership and the People team to continue to build and evolve due diligence and integration processes, tools and policies.

What you will need:

  • Have 5-8 years of People / HR experience that includes M&A and total rewards (compensation).
  • A problem solver with great instincts on how to get things done, and strong written/verbal communication skills.
  • Effective at reviewing multiple information sources and distilling to a thorough but clear analysis.
  • Experience establishing and managing People projects, and working cross functionally.
  • Experience working in a global context - ability to understand and represent the perspective and needs of non-US employees.
  • Curious, with an appetite to develop a deep understanding of Scopely, and of the acquired business.
  • Excited to partner with M&A Operations leadership and People team to create/evolve lightweight processes and tools to streamline and accelerate our work.
  • M&A experience required, gaming experience is an asset.
