PUBLIC RELATIONS MANAGER

Schell Games is looking for a skilled, hands-on Public Relations Manager from the games industry to help maximize awareness for the company’s mission and brands. This individual will have excellent planning and communication skills. The candidate will possess a deep understanding of traditional and digital media strategies, as well as the latest trends in marketing and strategic communication. The PR Manager collaborates with different departments in the organization and across various levels, including the executive management team. This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Marketing.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Create a strategic communications plan for the company and its projects, which includes high-level narrative messaging and targeted placements in print, broadcast, and online media
  • Develop, coordinate, and execute innovative PR campaigns to increase brand awareness and positively influence public perception
  • Build and maintain relationships with video game and B-to-B media (local and international) as well as other key industry influencers
  • Craft press releases and byline articles that align with the company’s mission and brand
  • Create and maintain press kits and manage assets to be shared with the media
  • Organize media interviews
  • Manage visiting groups and act as company ambassador
  • Communicate quickly and efficiently to all media inquiries
  • Attend trade shows and conferences and manage PR activities as they relate to these events
  • Develop and organize speaking engagements for members of the executive and development teams
  • Collaborate with outside agencies on special projects
  • Research and recommend vendors for tools necessary to PR management
  • Complete, manage and track award submissions for the company and its projects
  • Maintain press mentions list and communicate the information with the company
  • Regularly interact with senior leadership to influence strategy and negotiate decisions regarding issues, announcements, and messaging
  • Develop KPIs for key PR initiatives and monitor campaign performance and metrics
  • Prepare reports and presentations as well as provide post mortem analysis on PR activities as needed.

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Between 3-5 years of experience leading PR campaigns in the video games industry
  • Experience working closely with senior management and executives
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, copywriting, and organizational skills
  • Self-driven and proactive with a can-do attitude
  • Familiarity with current game industry trends and communities
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Ability to interact as part of a team and to contribute to increasing productivity goals and efficiencies
  • Ability to travel

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Media, Creative Writing, or a related field, or the equivalent experience
