Rockstar New York is looking for a highly motivated Audio Engineer to work directly with our Audio production department. The audio engineer will record sound on location and in studio during our motion capture sessions and also work with the team on project exports, session setup and audio editing. The ideal candidate is an audiophile with location sound recording and post-production ADR/mixing experience who and can operate as part of a fast-paced team of producers and animators.


  • The Rockstar Audio production team works with multiple departments on the Publishing and Development teams to record, edit, and track audio files of dialogue and sound effects for Rockstar’s games and marketing assets.

  • We setup, record, and breakdown audio recording sessions both within our studios as well as externally with voice actors and performers.


  • Record live sound with wireless microphone systems, in studio and on location.

  • Edit audio in Pro Tools (dialogue and sound effects).

  • Manage, track and classify exports from Pro Tools sessions. These include file formats such as AAFS, WAVES. BOUNCES, MIXES, EDLs.

  • Edit and prep importing video renders and synching.

  • Upload assets via Perforce.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot synchronization between audio, animation, and facial animation assets.

  • Setup audio for voiceover recording sessions.

  • Track assets through project management software.


  • Extensive experience with multitrack recording and editing systems along with wireless microphones.

  • Background working in film, television, and in studio and live sound environments.

  • Knowledge and use of Pro Tools and industry standard DAW software.

  • Experience using digital mixers.

  • Comprehensive understanding of audio signal flow.

  • In-depth understanding of timecode workflows for maintaining sync across multiple devices.

  • Detailed understanding of studio engineering, recording, editing, video, and audio synchronization, post-production mixing and mastering for dialogue, sound design, and music.

  • Experience working with high profile talent.

  • Ability to work in both Mac OSX and Windows.

  • Must be willing to work in NYC and Long Island.


  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to interact and work with staff, talent, and guests at all levels.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, to take initiative and follow through on projects.

  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task, and work under shifting deadlines.

  • Past success in a fast, efficient, highly organized and disciplined group, with proven ability to consistently perform in a high volume, fast-turnaround environment.

  • Familiarity with Allen & Heath Qu series digital mixers.

  • Experience working in games or motion capture.

  • Knowledge of video and software development.
