This is a full-time, in-office position based out of Rockstar’s new studio on the Westside of Los Angeles, CA.

WHAT WE DO

  • The Rockstar Games Writing team works closely with various departments across the studios in developing narratives, characters, dialogue, in-game media, world building interactions, and world-building discoveries.

  • We work to push the limits of creating compelling and unique experiences that resonate with a global audience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Write funny, character-driven, and unique dialogue for our ambient population.

  • Work with key stakeholders to understand and support the technical requirements for player-led, dialogue-based interactions with our ambient population.

  • Provide exciting dialogue that works within the strict constraints of a complex game system.

  • Undertake self-motivated research and leverage that research to enrich your writing.

  • Understand and match the tone of our games.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in English, Creative Writing, or related discipline; or equivalent professional experience.

  • Two years’ experience of creative writing in a professional context.

  • Knowledge of MS Office.

SKILLS

  • Ability to write well under tight deadlines, while maintaining quality and consistency.

  • A highly organized and disciplined approach to your work.

  • Enthusiastically respond to feedback, making requested changes quickly and thoroughly.

  • Ability to iterate based on feedback.

PLUSES

Please note that these are desirable skills and are not required to apply for the position.

  • Fluency in a second language.

  • Experience working within creative industries – video games, film, television, music, journalism.

  • Experience with improv.

  • Experience working in a writers’ room or as a writer’s assistant.

  • Passion for Rockstar and our games.

The pay range for this position in Los Angeles at the start of employment is expected to be between the range below* per year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

$54,700 - $73,800 USD
