The Communities team's mission is to make it easy to create and join vibrant communities on Roblox. Communities make up the space of shared interaction in the metaverse, through connected communication, creation, and cooperative experience. The Communities team is focused on helping users and creators find each other, organize, collaborate, build, recruit, and compete with one another. Much like communities in the "real world" require tools and means for resources to unite around a shared goal, metaverse communities need a feature-rich platform to create these shared spaces, build rich assets, and engage in shared experiences. The Communities team provides the space for groups to belong, thrive, produce, and have fun.

As the Director of Product for Roblox Communities, you will create and lead the product strategy, roadmap, and execution on our Communities vision. You'll be charged with deeply understanding our users and creators, aligning the broader organization around our user value proposition, and driving our UX, technology, and growth goals. In short, you will lead the Communities vision for the team and build a world class metaverse communication platform used by millions. You'll do this with a full set of partners across Data Science, Engineering, Design, User Research, Developer Relations and more. The team, which joined Roblox last year as part of the guilded.gg acquisition, is an integrated part of Roblox and is set up to build this grand vision for our community.

You Are:

  • Experienced: You have +7 years of product management in user-facing product areas such as communications, collaboration, or digital experiences, with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, Applied Sciences or a similar technical field.

  • User-centric: You always act user first and pursue the best UX possible, regardless whether the product is a simple UI or complicated API. You always put yourself in developers' shoes.

  • Data-driven: You are proficient in defining indicators, doing analysis, and deriving applicable insights from data.

  • Technical: You have experience working in a technical/software environment to lead product vision with multiple disciplines, define product requirements, and guide the team through important milestones.

  • Execution-focused: You have a strong track record of getting stuff done, working with teams to opportunity size and prioritize investments, ship products, and iterate

  • Organized: You have strong written and verbal communication skills and can express ideas in a form appropriate to the audience, from verbal executive briefing to detailed written specifications to wireframes.

  • Holistic: You balance vision, with data, with needs of multiple user types, with the impact to the business.

  • Ambitious: You boldly go where no one has gone before, you are always keen to grow the limits.

You Will:

  • Become a SME on user needs and industry trends around communities through deep analysis, research, and immersion of the space.

  • Shape the vision, define goals, strategy, priorities, and roadmap for Roblox Communities including what the communities will look like in the metaverse.

  • Align the Roblox Communities vision and roadmap to your team including executives, engineers, designers, scientists, and other team members.

  • Build an empowered culture to guide successful projects; lead by example, with a track record and an ability to inspire a team.

  • Create the plan and execution for the product suite, features, APIs, and services that are beneficial for millions of community members on Roblox.

  • Write detailed product specifications for Community products that can be referred by team members for design and implementation.

  • Run the development of projects from ideation, planning, to launch by working with engineering partners, UX designers, marketing.

  • Establish the Indicators for your products and improve the metrics through both incremental and revolutionary improvements.

  • Grow the team. As the Communities team and product suite scales, develop product managers, while partnering with Engineering, Design Data Science, DevRel, Marketing and other Roblox groups to create a cohesive organization.

  • You will report to the VP of Product for the User group.
