The Role

As a part of the Riot Developer Experience (RDX) team, you'll build the distributed platform that enables our games to operate globally. You will work with all game teams, including R&D, to engineer the microservice foundation that enables us to bring projects from creation to production. As a Senior Systems Engineer on the RDX Continuous Service Delivery (CSD) team, you will focus on building software tools and automating infrastructure that supports Riot's central build pipelines, facilitating how all microservices are built at Riot and helping teams ship on standardized build infrastructure. You will report to the Engineering Manager of the RDX CSD team.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and operate tools and services that help accelerate all of Riot
  • Create tools to optimize and automate operational tasks
  • Provide ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements in existing platforms
  • Participate in interviewing and help with mentoring and career development of more junior engineers
  • Participate in the team's on-call rotation

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field or relevant professional experience
  • 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience developing using cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP) using containers and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), managed using infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible)
  • Experience coding or scripting in a professional setting using languages such as Python, Bash, Terraform, Ansible
  • Familiarity with Jenkins or other offerings in the CI problem space
  • Experience operating & maintaining live services, including handling emergent issues and on-call troubleshooting

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Artifact management solutions such as Artifactory and Nexus
  • Familiarity with Git, Perforce, or other source control systems
  • Experience building high-quality software in languages like Go, Java, Python, or any other general-purpose language.
  • Experience with owning Linux systems on bare metal and in cloud infrastructure
  • Experience with troubleshooting networks
  • Understand relational databases like MySQL
