The Role

The Manager, Quality Assurance - Certification (QAM) is responsible for standardizing testing services across a series of projects and studios. Your goal is to raise awareness about risks that could impact adherence to 1st Party, Riot, regional regulatory, legal, and security requirements. The role revolves around building and implementing certification testing processes to achieve the highest level of quality across all product and platform experiences.

Responsibilities include developing more efficient solutions to everyday testing problems and delivery, ensuring that teams are adhering to requirements, collaborating laterally to promote best practices, and tracking and presenting outcomes and ongoing recommendations to the Head of Game Lifecycle Operations.

You will work with Game Executive Producers, Producers, Engineers, QA, and other leads to create robust testing strategies, plans and schedules, and drive the long-term vision of Riot Games Quality Control in order to set Game Products up for success.

The Manager, Quality Assurance (QAM) for Riot’s Certification Team will report directly to Riot’s Director of Operations in the LAX office.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the planning, execution and reporting processes of Certification testing activities across project(s).
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the company to create measurable quality targets based on 1st Party, Riot, regional regulatory, legal, and security requirements, while driving visibility on progress.
  • Develop standards, KPIs, procedures, training manuals and other documentation for project or internal use.
  • Design test strategies using a variety of techniques, tools, and technologies: selects the appropriate methods based on defined objectives including cost, efficiency, efficacy, and balancing available resources, uses information and business systems to support planning and tracking of activities.
  • Establish a certification pipeline; develop and implement the processes across Riot.
  • Adopt existing methodologies; define and roll out new ones as required by project need.
  • Identify risks, impact, probability, and plan mitigation.
  • Determine staffing needs while understanding constraints.
  • Hold game teams accountable for adhering to these requirements and quality bar as an essential factor in decision-making.
  • Guide and maintain testing these strategies throughout the software development life cycle.
  • Proactively identify and implement process improvements: evolve, optimize, and define project-wide processes under their area of influence.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the studio to ensure excellence in Certification.
  • Report the metrics that matter, using data to guide action.
  • Communicate within the project team and to external groups: adapt content and detail to match audience, regularly collaborate outside of the project team to solve problems and share best practices, communicate to and on behalf of the QC project team.

Team Management Responsibilities

  • Manage Certification internal and external teams.
  • Get directly involved in the recruiting of staff, welcome the employees on their first working day and make sure that they attend onboarding.
  • Evaluate and monitor the performance objectives of their team members periodically.
  • Manage the professional development process of direct reports, together with the Human Resources Department, identify the strengths and development opportunities of each member of their team.

Required Qualifications

  • Expert in Quality Management, including Planning, Assurance, Control, and Improvement.
  • Fluent in Product Development Pipelines and Workflows.
  • Skilled in Strategic goal setting and tactical execution.
  • Defect database administration experience.
  • Prior experience in People-management.
  • Prior experience working with remote testing teams.
  • 5+ years Quality Assurance experience, 2+ years in a QA leadership position.
  • Experience shipping titles on Mobile, Console and PC. Please list shipped titles.

Desired Qualifications

  • Preferred Licenses/certifications:
  • I/ASTQB Foundation Level
  • I/ASTQB Agile Tester or ICAgile Agile Testing (ICP-TST)
  • I/ASTQB Advanced Test Manager
