Riot's People team exists to help Riot make better decisions around its talent. As an Instructional Designer, reporting to the L&D Manager, you will help understand learning needs at Riot to design and implement different learning solutions across multiple media. You will promote learning effectiveness for one or more major programs (e.g. Performance Management, Feedback, Manager Development). You will partner with program managers and craft SMEs to translate Riot needs into pragmatic learning solutions that achieve our goals. You will be a craft mentor to other members on the L&D team.

Responsibilities:

  • Design learning experiences at high proficiency in several modalities (classroom, virtual, eLearning, and MOOCs) that address skill and knowledge gaps, and reflect learning theory and a variety of techniques/approaches to ensure the quality of instruction; connect learning programs to individual or team performance
  • Work with experts within People and across departments to design classroom learning experiences and self-directed resources
  • Present and facilitate difficult classroom experiences, with challenging content; unify and focus a room to gain support and agreement on contentious subjects while keeping participants engaged and supported
  • Partner with People Insights to develop measurements
  • Mentor and advise other L&D professionals inside of Riot on the craft; stay up-to-speed on latest industry-wide thinking around the L&D craft, and know when and where new ideas will be successful at Riot
  • Analyze the effectiveness of current L&D processes, and draw meaningful conclusions about successes and areas of improvement to apply going forward
  • Ensure Riot talent systems (e.g. Workday Talent module, LMS) are configured to support L&D programs; explain requirements to HR Systems team and support testing

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years of learning and development experience (leadership development, facilitation, design, program management, and evaluation)
  • University degree (BA/BS) required
  • Appropriate balance of expertise and practicality of how to apply theory in a business environment
  • Experience partnering cross-functionally and globally
  • Experience juggling multiple work streams while achieving great results
  • Experience summarizing and presenting complex insights/recommendations

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in a similar role at a fast-growing tech company or other similar company
  • Graduate degree in instructional design, education, I/O psychology
  • Graphic Design skills
