A successful member of Riot’s XP team will be player oriented, well versed in their current habits, deeply interested in market trends, and know how to develop an audience journey and market entry proposal as part of their planning. They will be creatively inclined and hold their collaborators to strategic alignment and quality in execution while keeping their eyes on bigger picture goals. They will be able to anticipate player needs both in and out of our ecosystems and use inputs from all around Riot to develop new and novel ways to deliver value across publishing, community, and creative marketing platforms. Most importantly, they will be able to navigate ambiguous challenges with a problem solving mindset and be well versed with selling through their ideas to a diverse audience of collaborators and stakeholders for both partnered and fully owned projects.

As a Brand Strategist on Riot’s XP team, you will report to the XP Marketing Lead and work closely with XP’s product, production, and insights teams to develop strategies and executions that elevate our publishing efforts across major Riot moments. As part of major product initiatives, you will integrate in with our diverse organization of central and global marketing leads across Riot and work collaboratively to develop, sell-through, and deliver on executions that push our larger goals forward. During major, XP driven moments, you will turn those learnings into a refined publishing strategy and lead these groups to execute with excellence towards our event vision.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with XP’s leadership team to ingest product opportunities, player insights, and Riot’s vision to develop short (support) and long term (XP) strategic publishing goals
  • On supported projects, work within a cross-functional publishing and marketing team to develop discrete ideas that both meet the strategic needs of the project and push our long term XP goals forward
  • On owned XP campaigns, work with XP leadership to develop leading publishing strategy that incorporates product priorities across Riot’s ecosystem
  • Build the business case for their projects, working with XP leadership, insights, and project counterparts to build outcomes and KPIs that they will hold their projects accountable to
  • Own the sell through of their projects to applicable internal and external stakeholders and collaborating parties which includes creative brief writing, vendor management, tailored deck creation, and presentation inclusive of budgets, production requirements, and publishing support
  • Upon sell through, collaborate with teams across Riot to develop and produce their executions at a high quality bar
  • Manage regular communications about their project, feedbacking progress and learnings within team rituals and acting as the point of contact to ensure participating partners execute in lockstep from ideation through to deployment
  • Report back on their project’s success and learnings

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 6+ years of experience with publishing or brand marketing for major gaming or entertainment franchises with experience developing and shipping publishing initiatives or major marketing campaigns
  • Experience working with creative agencies, external vendors and internal creatives inclusive of creative briefing, feedbacking, greenlighting, and managing projects
  • Experience leading collaborative work within large matrixed marketing organizations, with understanding of how to tailor one’s presentations to varied audiences across products and partners
  • Experience with handling conflict resolution and term negotiation

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working with multiple major gaming or entertainment franchises
  • Agency experience (closely working with or coming from a well established digital/creative agency)
  • Has shipped full marketing campaigns or publishing strategy as part of major launches
  • Has worked as part of larger marketing organizations
