Role Overview:
Technical Environment Artists enhance the art team by exploring innovative content creation techniques. Their expertise in investigating and resolving content challenges, as well as exploring forward-thinking creation paradigms, is crucial for a thriving art department. With skills in programming, scripting, and industry-standard content creation methods (including procedural techniques), Technical Environment Artists empower the team to “think big.” As a Technical Environment Art Intern at Respawn Wisconsin, you will collaborate with your peers on the art team to identify and develop solutions to creative challenges that align with the art direction. In this role, you will report directly to the Art Department Director (World Director) in Wisconsin and will be considered an equal contributor on the dedicated local team.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with peers on the art team to support the game and studio vision, providing and receiving feedback to enhance the team's creative and technical goals.
Learn the intricacies of our content pipeline with team support and use that knowledge to identify potential areas for improvement.
Explore and share content creation strategies that can be utilized by the team to achieve the creative vision.
Assess, design, implement, and maintain art creation pipelines/workflows that meet artists' needs and increase productivity for content creators.
Familiarize yourself with multiple technologies, technical concepts, ideas, and challenges.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of contemporary content creation packages for environment art, such as the Substance suite, 3D modeling DCC (Blender/Maya/Max), and procedural content creation tools (Houdini/Blender Geo-nodes).
Foundational experience and technical proficiency in 3D concepts such as modeling, texturing, rendering, and physically-based shading.
You must be available for a full-time paid internship in the summer of 2025. We are only considering students who will be enrolled in an accredited degree program in the summer of 2025, slated to graduate no earlier than December 2025. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the US or Canada on a full-time basis during the 12-week internship. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
