We're looking for an experienced Senior Technical Artist to join the Apex Legends team. We're picturing someone who will embrace our philosophy and share their hard earned expertise to collaborate with Art Direction and Creative Leads to help develop tools and support the team in creating this fast and immersive game. You are passionate about Technical art, problem-solving and experienced in workflow, tools and performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Write tools for the Art & Animation pipeline including rigging, content creation automation, etc.

  • Collaborate with Artists, Animators, Coders, & Designers to implement game content.

  • Establish and maintain best practices, quality bar, pipelines, and processes for the department.

  • Troubleshoot and prioritize artist issues with tools and art creation workflow. Serve as an advocate for the department’s goals, needs, and desires. Remove roadblocks, raise red flags, etc.

  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure good communication and solid working relationships between departments.

  • Inspire the entire department to constantly raise the quality bar, develop solutions, and work with all other connected departments.

  • Practice and encourage good programming practices. Actively participate in code reviews, write clean and readable code, maintain documentation, ect.

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years professional experience.

  • Experience maintaining shared code bases and modular rigging systems necessary.

  • Strong Math skills.

  • Expert knowledge of Python programming for Maya including Pyside2/PyQt and Maya API.

  • Expert knowledge of rigging & skinning characters, weapons, creatures, etc in Maya.

  • In depth expertise on relevant 3D software packages (Maya, Zbrush, etc. )

  • Portfolio that demonstrates relevant tech art experience in games (tools, pipelines, etc.)

  • Demonstrable strong understanding of relevant tools and technology.

  • Strong understanding of game engines and art integration pipelines and how to optimize them.

  • Knowledge of Java, C# or C++ is a plus.

US COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these states. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location. EA has listed the base salary ranges it in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in the locations listed, as of the time of this posting. Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.

BASE SALARY RANGES

  • California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. Sacramento): º $113,300 - $171,700

  • New York (depending on location e.g. Manhattan vs. Buffalo): º $111,500 - $171,700

  • Washington (depending on location e.g. Seattle vs. Spokane): º $111,500 - $157,300

  • Jersey City, NJ : º $126,700 - $171,700

  • Colorado (depending on location e.g. Denver vs. Colorado Springs): º $111,500 - $144,000

Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby (following 1 year of service), medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
