The Community Activation Team connects the voices of EA’s 300+ million players to our global game development and publishing teams, facilitating healthy conversation working together to build thriving communities. The Community Manager, Competitive Gaming will oversee the direct-to-player communications for EA’s Apex Legends competitive gaming activations, building connections with the community through a multi-channel approach spanning social media, voice chat platforms, forums, and virtual and physical events, to create and maintain a two-way dialogue between Respawn Entertainment and its competitive gaming community.

As part of this role, the Community Manager, Competitive Gaming on Apex Legends will develop person-to-person relations and serve as the primary point of contact globally around the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) of competitive gaming events. The role will be nested at Respawn Entertainment’s HQ but will be integrated as part of a large cross-functional team of EA publishing and studio partners that all work collaboratively towards creating the greatest player experience around Apex Legends.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and operationalize a multi-channel communication and relations management approach that caters to Apex Legends’s competitive gaming players globally - pros and amateurs.
  • Help shape the narrative around the ALGS and competitive storylines across channels.
  • Partner with Respawn and EA’s production teams to produce the content necessary to communicate with players and support the relevant competitive activities.
  • Proactively communicate top conversation topics going on in the Apex Legends competitive gaming community to keep studio and marketing informed of priorities, situations, hot topics & trends.
  • Build and socialize communications and editorial plans internally seeking alignment with the various marketing functions & channels.
  • Own and drive the creation of rich editorial coverage around ALGS/Apex Legends Competitive Gaming events.
  • Accountable for the execution of beats, deployments, publishing and content and messaging approvals of Apex Legends competitive gaming-related activations.
  • Partner with Social Media, Competitive Gaming Division, Brand, Marcomm and PR on overall integration of ALGS content into the Apex Legends franchise calendar.
  • Ensure all Electronic Arts standards, policies, and processes are observed and followed across all ALGS / Apex Legends Competitive gaming activations.

Qualifications + Requirements

  • Passion for video games and deep experience/understanding of Apex Legends and/or other BR/FPS games.
  • 4+ years in the Gaming/Entertainment space with proven experience creating programs and active dialogue that have successfully grown and nurtured the development studio/player relationship, preferably in the competitive gaming space.
  • Spokesperson experience: comfortable speaking publicly and in front of large audiences, online or in real life.
  • Understanding of digital and social media marketing in addition to appropriate metrics of success.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, if necessary, and attend off-site events - depending on the evolution of the global COVID-19 situation.
