Job Description

The Legal Counsel is a confident and forward-thinking attorney with the ability to provide practical legal advice with respect to all aspects of Red Bull’s marketing activities in the United States and Canada. This position will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing marketing and advertising content, events and activations for compliance with US and Canada laws and regulations while offering legal risk mitigation strategies across multiple jurisdictions. This position will work closely with Red Bull’s media and marketing legal team, IP/brand enforcement and regulatory legal teams and interface directly on a daily basis with a broad range of client teams including trade marketing, cross marketing, sports, esports and culture marketing groups.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing and Promotion Agreements

Provide legal support for all marketing activities in the US and Canada, includes drafting, negotiating and advising on sport, music, culture and esport initiatives which includes event agreements, agency agreements, venue agreements, artist/athlete endorsements, sponsorships and partnership agreements, IP licenses, consumer product and activation agreements, team sponsorship agreements and other related marketing arrangements

Structuring, drafting and negotiating marketing and advertising agreements and providing legal advisory support for advertising and marketing consumer product activations

Support for marketing teams includes HQ and regional business units as well as Canada business teams in areas of Esports and Sports Marketing teams, Culture and Music Marketing, Cross Marketing / Trade Marketing, Brand Marketing and Social Innovation and Impact

Advertising & Data Protection

Provide legal support for consumer product advertising campaigns in the US and Canada including support for data collection, sharing and analytics

Support compliance and regulatory efforts with respect to US and global advertising campaigns

Contests & Sweepstakes

Handle all contests, sweepstakes and competitive sport and gaming documentation, including rules, guidelines, affidavits, prizing, bonds and state and federal compliance matters.

Compliance & Regulatory

Interfacing with global regulatory with respect to false and misleading advertising, FTC compliance, endorsement guidelines and compliance and other marketing and advertising regulatory compliance

Work closely with operations teams within both legal and marketing groups to ensure that compliance matters are tracked and enforced and workflows established to minimize business risk and promote efficiency

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  1. Member of the California bar.
  2. Approximately 2-4 years of experience practicing law in the areas of marketing, advertising, or regulatory compliance. Law firm or in-house experience a must.
  3. Preferred In-house experience within a consumer product and/or entertainment marketing environment.
  4. Exceptional legal drafting and analytical skills.
  5. Ability to work directly with executive leadership within organization and manage cross-functional stakeholders both domestically and globally
  6. Self starter with entrepreneurial spirit and demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a high volume, fast-paced environment.
  7. Ability to work efficiently and with minimal supervision.
  8. Ability to meet demanding deadlines without sacrificing the quality of work product.
  9. Excellent multitasking and organizational skills.
  10. Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with both business and creative personnel.
