Rebellion Oxford are currently looking for an enthusiastic UI Artist devoted to creating stylish user interface experiences for games on all current platforms. The successful applicant will have graphic design experience, be self-driven and talented, with a genuine interest in playing games.

Game industry experience is not essential but you must have experience of creating graphical user interfaces, an awareness of best selling games and the graphical styles they employ. Please include a link to your portfolio of examples demonstrating outstanding visual and technical ability.

You will:

  • Work closely with a GUI Designer to create art for 2D front-end game interfaces and in-game display HUDs
  • Create, design and implement both static and animating 2D elements
  • Follow the GUI creation process from concept through to completion
  • Rapid creation of GUI prototypes for multiple platforms
  • Work to a functional and aesthetic brief, within technical constraints, adapting to different art styles and keeping consistency with the overall game style
  • Document style guides and task tracking
  • Collaborate productively within larger multi-disciplined project team environments
  • Work effectively with minimal levels of guidance, prioritising and scheduling your own work
  • Be responsive to deadlines and work well under pressure

Requirements

  • Excellent use of Photoshop
  • Strong understanding of modern user interface design principles
  • Skilled in GUI design and creation of graphic elements and animations
  • Good core graphic design skills including layout, typography, font formats and colour
  • Good understanding of composition and color theory
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, willingness to accept and follow direction
  • Ability to grasp new concepts and tools quickly
  • Knowledge of Flash, After Effects, web design or any 3D packages would be an advantage but is not essential
