We are looking for someone like you to become our all-new Senior Technical Animator and join our passionate and talented Animation team, where we are building on the years of success that Rebellion has enjoyed.

Senior Technical Animator role:

As a Senior Technical Animator, you will have in-depth knowledge of rigging and animation systems, with a strong technical background in animation tools & scripting (Python, MEL) and a strong proficiency in 3D animation software (Maya, MotionBuilder).

Applying best practices, production pipelines and workflows to support the Animation department, this is an exciting opportunity to develop and evolve new animation solutions for multiple projects, playing a key role in ensuring the technical animation quality across our games.

This role would suit a Technical Animator with experience in developing character pipelines, next-gen animation features as well as animation and art friendly tools.

The Rebellion Animation team is responsible for bringing characters for our multiple titles to life. The team work with Design and Character Art to ensure that the animation is in line with the creative direction of the project.

Responsibilities

  • Create character rigs and facial animation techniques
  • Evolve and devise new animation solutions for entire game projects
  • Support the Lead Technical Animator in any ad hoc tasks and duties, including mentoring junior employees
  • Identify and address optimisation efficiencies
  • Participate in R&D into current and emerging animation technologies
  • Ensure the technical animation quality of the project by collaborating with technical animators and other animators and make changes when necessary

Requirements

  • Knowledge of anatomy and body mechanics
  • Advance knowledge of 3D software such as 3D Studio Max or Maya, with a technical focus on rigging and skinning
  • Advance knowledge of the video game development process
  • Advance knowledge of production pipelines
  • Knowledge of writing tools with MEL/Python/PyMel
  • Knowledge of motion capture
  • Knowledge of Maya and/or MotionBuilder API
  • Able to effectively communicate information, whilst building long-term, trusting relationships with a wide range of people
  • Able to analyse data and issues whilst generating ideas
