For 30 years we’ve been creating incredible video games at our multiple studios, but Rebellion is more than just games. We have our own film and mo-cap studio, we create board games, publish books, and through 2000AD, publish comics and graphic novels such as the amazing Judge Dredd.

We operate across multiple UK locations, with studios based in Oxford, Warwick, Liverpool, and Wakefield. The Opportunity

We are on the lookout for aSenior Environment Artist to join our Art Team, working on an unannounced title.

A role is dedicated to building environment art and scenes that push the aesthetic bar and engage the player. You will take ownership of your work and your skills and artistic vision will drive the visuals for our new game. You will create high-quality assets which can be used across the project and help challenge and redefine the artistic process. As part of the Environment Art team, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality of an exciting new project.

  • Develop the themes and mood of the environments, with consideration of narrative and visual storytelling
  • Create high-quality environments in close collaboration with Level Designers
  • Create high-quality assets which can be shared across the project
  • Track and update the progress of day-to-day tasks using the designated tracking tools
  • Communicate and collaborate with key stakeholders to confirm task direction and consistency of own work
  • Able to champion the vision of the work and adapt to feedback
  • Ensure the technical and artistic quality of the project by collaborating with Technical Artists and other Senior Artists and making changes when necessary
  • Support the Lead Artist in any ad hoc tasks and duties, including mentoring junior employees
  • Challenge and help re-define technical and artistic processes

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of 3D software such as 3D Studio Max, Maya, and Blender
  • Advance knowledge of 3D sculpting packages such as Zbrush or Mudbox
  • Brilliant understanding of modeling processes, hi-res sculpting, baking textures, and material/shader setup in realtime render engine
  • Advance knowledge of PBR material pipeline/substance
  • Brilliant experience with Photoshop or other 2D packages
  • Able to effectively communicate information and exert influence. Whilst building long-term, trusting relationships with a wide range of people, and building trust within multiple teams
