Description
Rebellion Oxford has an exciting opportunity for a Material Artist to join our Art team. We are looking for someone with knowledge and experience of modern texturing/surfacing systems as well as excellent communication and self-management skills. The right candidate will be able to work cohesively with our Tech and 3D Artists to help push and develop the look of our titles. You will also be passionate about creating high quality, responsive surfaces in Substance Designer, be comfortable following a concept in detail and should be able to apply your keen visual skills to the wide range of artistic styles employed by Rebellion’s diverse and growing catalogue of games.
Responsibilities:
- Use procedural, photographic or scanning techniques to create complex, editable materials
- To work with and support artists to learn material techniques and promote best practise.
- Maintain and update Substance libraries
- Work with project Art teams to maintain consistent high quality materials throughout the gaming world
- Build custom tools in Substance Designer to help improve functionality, speed, and quality
- Create custom generators and brushes in Designer for the use in Painter
Requirements
- Solid understanding of Substance Designer
- Solid understanding of Physically Based Shading and rendering
- Knowledge of Substance Painter
- Knowledge of 3D authoring software such as Maya, 3dMax or Blender
- Ability to appreciate, respond to and provide constructive critique
- Strong observational skills and ability to translate reference into designer materials
- Show initiative and be proactive in developing new skills
- Enjoy working collaboratively as part of a cross disciplinary team
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience of implementing artwork to a real-time engine such as Unreal or Unity
- Experience of photogrammetry would be advantageous
- Experience with Real-time rendering would be desirable
