Role Overview:

We are recruiting a Lead Mobile Application Developer for the Rebellion Group. Based in our studio in Oxford, you will be an essential part of the Web team. The successful applicant will have considerable experience in developing hybrid mobile applications, preferably with experience in either Cordova or PhoneGap. You will be able lead the development of Rebellion’s Mobile applications and mentor junior team members.

With the acquisition of a $100m film studio and the world’s largest archive of English language comics, Rebellion continues to grow from strength to strength.
What you'll be doing:

  • Maintaining and enhancing the existing Rebellion and 2000AD mobile apps
  • Defining the approach for new apps and features
  • Working with the automated test engineering function to increase automated test coverage
  • Improve and increase the level of automation in the existing build and deployment processes
  • Actively participate in architecture development, planning and build for new projects
  • Working closely with publishing and marketing stakeholders to agree development priorities
  • Liaising with UX and design leads to ensure the brand alignment and strong customer engagement of apps
  • Mentoring a junior developer in the team

Requirements

What we're looking for:

  • Highly motivated, initiative taking developer able to produce and maintain high quality code
  • Excellent HTML, CSS, JavaScript skills and experience with frameworks in each (ideally VueJS)
  • Experienced with coding AJAX, Web APIs, JSON, SQLite in JavaScript web applications
  • Experience designing, implementing, building, testing and deploying web applications
  • Experience with CI/CD technologies (ideally GitLab)
  • Experience with JavaScript testing frameworks (ideally Jest)
  • Working knowledge of NodeJS, Babel and related web optimization technologies
  • Previous experience building hybrid (ie, web-based) mobile apps
  • Approachable and able to teach and assist other team members

Desirable Skills:

  • Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence
  • Experience of leading team stand-ups, code reviews and retrospectives
