Description

We are recruiting a DevOps Engineer for the Rebellion Group. Based in our studio in Oxford, you will be an essential part of the Web team. The successful applicant will have previous experience in a DevOps role and be passionate about robust testing and deployment processes. You will be eager to learn new skills, improve existing ones, able to work to deadlines and approach problems in a solution focused mind-set.

What you'll be doing:

  • Maintain existing servers and web applications
  • Improve and maintain the existing CI and testing of web applications and services
  • Improve and increase the level of automation in the existing build and deployment processes
  • Pro-active communication of technical problems and issues
  • Adhere to company software standards

Requirements

What we're looking for:

  • Good linux server administration experience (Debian familiarity desirable)
  • Strong ability in scripting (Bash and PHP desirable, python and perl beneficial)
  • Good understanding of network protocols (including SSL), firewalls and routing
  • Experience with nginx, php-fpm, mysql/mariadb (memcache, redis, beanstalk, elastic also desirable)
  • Experience with deploying and configuring PHP applications in multiple running environments
  • Familiarity with virtualisation technologies (such as Xen, VirtualBox, Vagrant)
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Clear communication skills
  • Ability to work well with individuals and teams

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with cloud technologies and infrastructure (AWS, Google Cloud, Digital Ocean)
  • Version control implementation and management experience (gitlab and gitlab-ci experience desirable)
  • Experience with maintaining Java applications, in particular ELK
  • Experience utilising web APIs to automate tasks
  • Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence
  • Previous experience of using application containers (docker and kubernetes) and canary deployments
