The Field Application Engineer, Gaming will work with game development studios throughout the game production cycle to help them integrate and optimize Chroma RGB lighting as well as other Razer technologies

Responsibilities:

  • Engage with game industry partners to collaborate on technical and marketing cooperative opportunities.
  • Develop innovative designs for incorporating dynamic Chroma RGB lighting effects and other Razer technologies into video games and other software applications.
  • Develop tools, plug-ins, extensions, code samples, technical documents, etc. for partners to facilitate technical engagements and education on Razer technologies.
  • Conduct code reviews.
  • Perform validation of Razer Chroma RGB lighting and other Razer technology integrations in video games, updates, DLC, as well as other software applications, content, updates, etc.
  • Evangelize the Razer brand and Razer ecosystems by presenting at game industry events, including but not limited to GDC, PAX/, EGX, and Developer Days for the major platforms.
  • Travel to partner studios and work on-site with engineers, designers, artists, producers, QA, etc. to integrate Razer Chroma RGB lighting and other Razer technologies into video games and other software applications.
  • Assist with understanding customer needs and developing demonstrations to assist the customer.
  • Assist with implementation, testing and ongoing issue resolution for both internal and external customers. Recommend options and course of action for any implementation directives.
  • Interpret, communicate and manage customer requirements to internal staff to ensure timely and efficient resolution.
  • Contribute to project effectiveness by identifying short- and long-term development and product issues, provide information and commentary pertinent to technical deliberations.
  • Support technical solutions to meet company’s business, technical and financial goals.
  • Build and present comprehensive engineering reports in a clear and concise manner..
  • Travel required up to 30% of the time (domestic and international).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in Engineering or Computer Science from competitive college or university, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years SW Engineering: SW architecture, SDK and API development, continuous integration, automated test.
  • 3+ years of experience with game design, development, QA and validation.
  • 2+ years of experience in the design, integration, installation, test and deployment of RGB lighting.
  • Deep technical knowledge of C, C++ , JAVA, REST, game engines, including but not limited to Unreal Engine, Unity Engine, GameMaker, Lumberyard, etc.
  • Media and visual processing experience.
  • Web (RESTful) and mobile API experience.
  • Android, Linux, MacOS and iOS application development a strong plus.
  • Windows OS apps and services experience.
  • Proficiency with bug/issue/project software such as JIRA; and with CRM software such as Salesforce.
  • Thorough working knowledge of game design and implementation.
  • Experience working independently on-site at partner premises.
  • Able to confidently present complex concepts and products to customers.
  • Proven experience troubleshooting complicated issues and presenting solutions to resolve.
  • Ability to work effectively within and across teams as well as with individuals of all levels.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with an attention to detail.
  • Flexibility and willingness to do frequent early morning or late evening conference calls across time zones.
