Question is seeking an internal Lead QA Tester/Production Assistant to work remotely as a full time employee. You would be working remotely from home with competitive salaries and benefits for U.S. residents. Our ideal candidate is someone who has shipped one or more games as a Lead QA tester and is motivated to move into Production, eventually overseeing aspects of project management and remote QA outsourcing. This role may grow into an Associate Producer position based on experience and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Find bugs and write useful descriptions with reproduction steps within our Jira bug database
    Formulate and execute test plans used to verify builds for public release
  • Spend a portion of each day running functional QA testing
  • Evaluate and move public bug reports to the internal database as needed
  • Working with Leads and Production team to plan, set goals, and prioritize the team’s work
  • Capture meeting notes and distribute to the team
  • Facilitate communication among development team as well as outside contractors and partners
  • Maintain technical and design documentation in our internal wiki

Requirements

GEOGRAPHY

  • Must live within U.S. time zones from Pacific to Eastern time - We want office hours to overlap

COMMUNICATOR

  • Able to write useful reproduction steps in bug reports with relevant screenshots and debug info
  • Able to document test plans and incorporate feedback from engineers, artists, and designers
  • Able to gauge and relay the health of the project to the team based on bug report data
  • Can provide succinct and clear instructions or documentation for team members or external testers.
  • Can create clear and comprehensive notes from meetings/discussions
  • Can explain large amounts of information clearly in writing and verbally to different audiences with different levels of expertise

ORGANIZER

  • Has strong time-management skills - able to keep track of several tasks in parallel
  • Being detail-oriented - can spot issues that others might overlook and ensure own work is accurate
  • Able to sense what is important to the project and engage in productive discussions about prioritization
  • Can demonstrate strong critical thinking skills

TECHNOLOGIST

  • Able to learn debugging tools and use them to enhance bug reports
  • Able to learn the process of generating new builds of the game
  • Able to diagnose and troubleshoot technical and network issues on various platforms (PC, Xbox One, PS4, next-gen systems)

Preferred Skills / Attributes

  • Familiarity with game development QA on any of these platforms (ideally 1 or more titles shipped):
    • Xbox One
    • PlayStation 4
    • Windows PC
  • Familiarity testing multiplayer games and/or Unreal Engine-based games
  • Familiarity with Jira bug tracking software (if not, let us know what you’ve used before)
  • Comfortable presenting game demos to external partners, at PR events, or in press interviews
  • Passion for video games, desire to learn more about game production and games development in general
