Lead - Esports Strategy and Business Development

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Fully responsible for managing eSports Initiative
  • Build eSports strategy and manage its execution
  • Develop ecosystem partnerships including gaming titles/genre, publishers, broadcast partners, mobile phone and connectivity brands, operators, gamers, influencers, media, analysts, brands
  • Create and negotiate sponsorship packages and work with brands (endemic/non-endemic). Negotiate sponsorship deals and drive results with teams from PR/ Comms/ Digital/ Brand/ Content/ Advertising/ Online teams and deliver desired visibility and KPI’s agreed with sponsors
  • Gather and manage real time market intelligence across gaming and India and global eSports industry. Have deep understanding of relevant trends, competitive intelligence and performance benchmarks
  • Plan, develop and execute annual eSports evets across multi-years, multi-region, multi-formats
  • Run complete P&L and business plans for eSports venture in line with strategy
  • Build strong networks to gather comprehensive view of eSports rules and regulations in other global markets
  • Have a deep comprehension of the various components that make up an esports program/ecosystem, processes, platforms, tools and use them to build innovative models for mobile use-cases
  • Demonstrable track record of defining strategies in esports, entertainment, broadcasting, fan engagements, international events (offline/online), app ecosystem and new gaming avenues

Requirements

  • 10+ years’ experience in a top management consulting firm OR 10/15 years’ experience leading sports league / agency / media and/or content company driving online games (global experience will be added advantage)
  • Have strong established relationship with eSports ecosystem partners like publishers, broadcasting channels, brands, teams, leagues etc
  • An avid gamer (preferably a serious player)
  • Have a deep comprehension of the various components of esports program/ecosystem, including business management, business cases, brand management, event management, competitive structure and rule sets, player and team management and broadcast production
  • Should have deep understanding and knowledge of global eSports industry, insights, trends and best practices (I.e. relevant titles, industry trends etc) to constantly refine the game plan and identify and leverage different opportunities
  • Attract and manage partnerships and sponsors for eSport Seasons by sourcing, negotiating and executing contracts and deliverable as part of such activities
  • Demonstrable track record of defining strategies in esports, entertainment or traditional sports
  • Deep experience and interest in transformative growth strategy and strategic business planning
  • Experience managing, influencing and working with senior stakeholders (CxO, Finance, Engineering, Legal, Procurement) and venture partners
  • Meticulously organized and have strong project management and multi-tasking skills managing large teams and multiple out-sourced agencies and partners
  • Good inter-personal and communication skills with strong numerical, logical and analytical skills with attention to details
