ProbablyMonsters is looking for an Experienced Concept Artist to help craft the art style and visual language for a new exciting IP. Our Experienced Concept Artist is responsible for creating compelling concept art for characters, environments, props, and VFX to help our team achieve their aesthetic vision.
Who You Are:
- You have a consistently diverse and stylized portfolio displaying a wide range of skills, from characters to environments to mechanical design to VFX.
- You find it deeply satisfying to work collaboratively to create an evocative and diverse world that excites the imagination.
- You enjoy working closely with designers, engineers, character artists and animators to ensure that every design occupies a compelling space within the game.
- You have a large visual library to draw upon that extends beyond referencing other video games for inspiration, such as 2D animation, comics and manga.
- You prefer creating hand-drawn aesthetics rather than photo-realism.
- You lead by example, both through your work and in the way you interact with other team members.
- You pride yourself in your ability to lead discussions, communicate art direction concepts, and provide feedback both within your own team and across disciplines.
- You have a solid understanding of game development pipelines and the role that concept art plays within them.
- You place a high value on collaboration and open communication, in order to create an environment where everyone feels that they are working together towards a common goal.
What You Will Do:
- Collaborate with Art Director and cross discipline with other team members to discuss artistic goals for the game.
- Provide concept art to inspire and help drive the visuals of the game world forward.
- Actively participate in brainstorm sessions with other disciplines to come up with new, exciting and unique characters and play spaces.
- Join regular playtests to gain a deep understanding of the direction of the game and give notes on your experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
You have a deep understanding of Photoshop; some experience with at least one 3D package of your choice is a plus.
