We are looking for someone to model and texture 9 weapon and 3 arrow models for www.empireofember, a game made using Unity. These weapons are positioned close to the camera. We are looking for high quality models, suitable for a $30 high-visual tier game.

You will be provided

  • Concepts for each model
  • Description of each model
  • Additional references as requested
  • Example models for weapons we already have in the game. We can provide the examples in Maya and in FBX format.

Of the 9 weapons, 3 are bows. The bows have an existing rig and animation. You do not need to animate the bow, but must keep the rig intact so the existing animation will work with them.

You should first model a high-poly version of the weapon, and provide that to us to test that the dimensions and visuals are correct. You will then create a low-poly version of that same weapon. The low poly version should be within the range of 2500 vertices, 3500 triangles.

As all weapons are held in the player's hand, the grip point of the weapon must have the same dimensions of our existing weapons of that type. You will be provided the existing models in FBX and Maya format for reference.

The new weapons must have the grip point at the origin, and maintain the same orientation as the reference weapons, with +Y up and +Z forward.

We are using PBR materials. Textures should be 2K resolution, suitable for use in a Unity game, and include AlbedoTransparency, Ambient Occlusion, Metal Smoothness, and Normal map.

Source files must be provided in whatever modelling, animation, texturing package(s) you used

We will give preference to candidates who can do one or more of the following. Please indicate in your cover letter.

  • You know how to use and can test your own work in Unity
  • If you know how to animate, certain weapons may be enhanced by animations specific to that weapon. For example, a staff may have a crystal levitate over it.
  • You have a professional license to Maya
  • You can provide game-ready work, as a Unity package with materials already setup and tested.

We will NOT accept work made using student, cracked, or otherwise unauthorized or restricted licenses to Maya or any other software package.
