Market Manager Team Overview:

As an inaugural member of our Regional Operations team, this role will focus on our key business priorities that amplify the growth of our business and facilitate operational excellence. The Market Manager will immediately focus the majority of his/her time on acquiring schools and then will transition to account management, engagement, and retention over time. Leveraging the ability to build relationships, excellent communication skills, and build credibility with high school partners, this person will develop and execute a variety of initiatives directed at districts that result in schools activating on the PlayVS platform. Furthermore, we need a strategic critical and analytical thinker who can start at 20,000 feet and then dive deep into the details to ensure high quality results.

The ideal candidate for this role should have a “doer” attitude with relentless goal orientation, strong ability to build and leverage relationships, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. The Market Manager must also have strategic, analytical, and project management skills.

What you'll do:

  • Drive aggressively towards ambitious growth targets within your region
  • Develop, manage, and execute district campaigns to successfully activate schools on the PlayVS platform
  • Case manage schools with significant barriers and get them from sign-up to activated
  • Speak at external events and to key stakeholder groups to generate interest and excitement in PlayVS and esports
  • Analyze data to drive results
  • Engage with the community, form local partnerships, and leverage relationships
  • Be able to prioritize and juggle many different campaigns and projects at the same time
  • Working closely with other members of the team internally and cross functionally to solve problems
  • Use creativity to take novel approaches while building out and refine playbooks to drive future success.
  • Identify operational weaknesses and help improve or innovate new processes
  • Be a hard-working multi-tasker, supporting teams across the region. You’ll be one of the go to people when the business requires solutions to fire drills.
  • Speak fluently about the esports industry and your local school communities

What you'll need:

  • 2+ years of professional experience, preferably in business development, consulting, strategy, partnerships, or account management/sales
  • Credibility and/or experience in education space and/or extreme passion for esports that will translate into credibility and ability to build enthusiasm with key audiences
  • Exceptional external communication, relationship building skills, and hustle
  • Ability to think strategically & analytically and to manage multiple projects at once
  • Balance attention to detail with swift execution – we need to do things quickly, and we need to do them well. Balancing those can be challenging, and this should be a strength
  • Explorer – the ability to self-serve, investigate and get the data we require will make you much more effective in this role
  • A “get it done” attitude – bias toward action, great collaboration and master disambiguation – constantly pushing toward clarity and delivery
  • Once permitted post quarantine, travel to designated markets 20-25%
