Staff Technical Program Manager

As a Staff Technical Program Manager in the commerce engineering team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our global commerce platform. This role is essential to ensuring the resilience, scalability, and innovation of PlayStation's critical commerce systems, which support millions of users worldwide. You’ll be at the forefront of advancing our stateful systems to meet the evolving needs of PlayStation’s digital ecosystem.
Your expertise in backend engineering and distributed systems, combined with your ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects, will be crucial as we work to strengthen and evolve the backbone of PlayStation's commerce infrastructure. This is a unique opportunity to influence high-impact initiatives, manage risk across large-scale projects, and drive solutions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where your decisions will directly affect the user experience of 100s od millions of gamers globally.
Technical Expertise:
Strong understanding of challenges in large-scale distributed systems and data layers.
Background in Computer Science or Engineering with 5+ years of backend engineering experience, particularly in stateful systems.
Deep domain knowledge in commerce, including subscriptions, payments, partnerships, and billing.
Experience:
5+ years’ experience working on large-scale software projects.
Proven experience working cross-functionally with technical teams (engineering, product, data science).
Communication & Decision-Making:
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Strong data-driven decision-making with a focus on surfacing trade-offs.
Skilled in managing risks and driving decisions for high-impact projects.
Leadership:
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional, large-scale, and fast-paced initiatives.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to adapt in the face of uncertainties.
Self-Starter:
Comfortable navigating ambiguity and excelling in a "0 to 1" problem-solving environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Execution:
Collaborate with Engineering and Product teams to ensure smooth execution of initiatives, with a focus on commerce resilience.
Lead cross-functional efforts to enhance and evolve commerce systems.
Leadership in Cross-Functional Initiatives:
Drive initiatives to strengthen the resilience of critical commerce flows.
Define and implement best practices for execution and communication across teams.
Risk Management:
Identify, aggregate, and prioritize engineering risks.
Manage cross-functional dependencies, changes, and system migrations.
Driving Complex Deliverables:
Lead ambitious, engineering-driven initiatives within the commerce domain, focusing on system evolution and improvements.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.
Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

$192,500 - $288,700 USD
