Software Development Engineer in Test โ€“ Graphics

Sony PlayStationโ€™s R&D team is seeking an engineer to program in C++ and Python to verify the core software libraries used to construct PlayStation games. These software libraries provide the real-world graphics, audio, networking (and more) featured in the console games of tomorrow.

Here, you will construct new tests and tools that analyze the systems and libraries in the PlayStation SDK ecosystem. In addition, you will have an opportunity to improve and expand our existing testing infrastructure. If this is you, please apply!


  • Developing test cases for PlayStationยฎ SDK libraries. For candidates with computer graphics experience, this may include crafting test applications capable of verifying advanced graphics API features, test applications which will require shader code, and will use the 3D graphics API (and related utilities).
  • Building and improving test infrastructure, simplifying deployment of building, testing, or demonstrating PlayStationยฎ sample applications. Typically this infrastructure will be built using Python.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve the testing tools and frameworks used for ensuring high quality PlayStationยฎ SDK components.
  • Research new tools for building and analyzing PlayStationยฎ software.
  • Make testing plans, samples, and documentation together with our software production, documentation, and remote offshore engineering teams.


  • Possess a min. 2 yearsโ€™ experience programming with both C++ and Python.
  • Building and running software in both Windows and Linux environments.
  • Having an interest in automation to a level where you can discuss the pros and cons of various automation approaches.
  • Experience with different version control systems ex: Git, SVN, Perforce.
  • Continuous integration and containerization tools such as Jenkins and Docker.
  • Visual Studio
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent


  • 3D graphics programming (Direct3D, OpenGL, Vulkan, and/or Metal) and shader language writing (HLSL and/or GLSL) experience.
  • Graphics engines, GPU performance analysis and optimizations.
  • Development and debugging tools experience on both Linux and Windows.
  • Exposure to PlayStationยฎ development
  • Writing unit and integration tests. Knowledge of fuzz testing.
  • Familiarity with Unreal, Unity, or other game engine technology.
