Senior Accountant
San Mateo, CA
The Senior Accountant will work within the Finance and Accounting team supporting the month-end close process, leveraging our SAP system, with special attention to cash & treasury functionality, and operating expenses. This hands-on individual will work closely with all operations in San Mateo, San Francisco, San Diego, and Los Angeles. The candidate must have strong attention to detail, quick learner, and ability to multi-task, self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment. The responsibilities listed are not all inclusive and additional duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cash & bank activity including monthly account reconciliations for bank and clearing accounts
  • Perform cash receipts analysis and investigation as required
  • Analyze and forecast monthly FX requirements and perform monthly FX purchase/sale submission to Sony’s global treasury department
  • Analyze FX exposure and perform monthly FX hedge submissions
  • Manage cash position for the company and subsidiaries and arrange funding
  • Liaise with Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable teams on incoming and outgoing payments by performing weekly bank activities analysis
  • Responsible for prepayments reconciliation and amortization
  • Perform miscellaneous expense accruals & provisions and cost allocations
  • Perform additional monthly finance and accounting responsibilities as assigned
  • Perform monthly financial journal entries in SAP
  • Perform monthly financial reconciliations including GL account analysis
  • Support financial compliance (Internal & External Audit, Controls, and Procedures)
  • Support the financial close process in line with close schedule & deadlines (WD2)

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of progressive experience in Accounting and Finance
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in accounting or finance related discipline
  • CPA or International Equivalent, with SOX experience preferred
  • External and / or Internal audit experience preferred in media & entertainment industry
  • Compliance / SOX experience within a corporate environment required
  • US GAAP knowledge
  • Excellent SAP knowledge required
  • Excellent analytical skills with ability to independently and efficiently research
  • Excellent skills with Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Experience working within a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines
