PlayStation Studios Game Analytics

Hybrid - London, UK

PlayStation Studios is the game development division of Sony PlayStation, and is responsible for developing some of the most recognisable and ambitious console games and franchises on PlayStation, including The Last of Us, Horizon, Spider-Man, Ghost of Tsushima, God of War, and Gran Turismo.

We work with some of the best game studios in the world, and use data to help them make their games even better. We provide end-to-end analytics services for PlayStation Studios and use data to help them in the game development lifecycle. We are looking for talented people to join us in pushing the boundaries of game analytics for PlayStation games.

As a Principal Analytics Engineer, you’ll work in our cross-disciplinary engineering team to scale our platform, expand its reach, and help define and build the future of analytics for PlayStation games. You will help define the team's roadmap plus mentor & potentially manage your fellow engineers. You should have a passion for video games and a solid background in software engineering. You’re looking for a fun, dynamic environment to take on new challenges.

In your first six months, you will work on new title launches, and build data models to ensure efficient and consistent queries for game launches. You’ll also help us introduce new technologies to our platform that are suitable to our use cases. You will take ownership of this process and work closely with existing team members as well as teams at AWS to achieve this. This might include tools & technologies such as dbt, SQLMesh, Great Expectations, Airflow, AWS Glue and Spark SQL. You will help improve and potentially port our existing data modelling infrastructure to this new platform.

We’d love to hear from you if:

  • You are adept at writing SQL on analytics (OLAP) databases (preferably Redshift, or similar databases)

  • You have experience implementing and using data modelling tools and can work with our DevOps teams to stand up new infrastructure

  • You are open to the idea of managing a small team of other analytics and database engineers

  • You have experience in transforming data model requirements into solutions

  • You’re excited by Big Data projects and technology, and want to gain more experience in this area

  • You’re interested in exploring alternative solutions to traditional data warehousing techniques

  • You’re committed to quality as a top priority, and have an interest in repeatable, testable, destructible, test-driven database development

  • Bonus points for:

    • a degree in Computer Science

    • experience with dbt, AWS, Spark, source control (Git, Liquibase), Linux, Airflow

    • experience working with DevOps teams

    • familiarity with AAA game development and modern console games
